CELEBRITY
ENDORSEMENT
TO
DESTIGMATIZE
THERAPY

- ENDORSEMENT -

Thanks to many celebrities who have been open with their own battles,
MEALTH will be able to destigmatize therapy in our society. For us,
celebrity and influencer endorsement is not for marketing sake, rather
we want to enlighten the younger generation about severity of
keeping their thoughts and feelings to themselves.

Baring your private struggles in a public space is not easy for individuals or their families. But when well-known individuals put a face to mental illness, not only does it help raise awareness, it also helps others who are living with similar challenges realize that they are not alone.

- WHY CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT -

Some of the celebrities we’ve lost due to the stigma surrounding mental health.
If they were comfortable opening up to therapists & others around them,
they could’ve been provided with proper treatment.

All these celebrities committed suicide as for them it was an easier path.
The entire world mourns for them, similarly millions around the world
commit suicide and their friends and family suffer the consequences.

Recently we’ve lost Juice Wrld to substance abuse, but there are many examples in our past when the celebrities who have everything took their own life, one cannot forget Kurt Cobain, Anthony Bourdain, Avicii &
Chester Bennington.

The list for celebrities committing suicide who struggled with mental health is quite long, just for the 21st
century alone. They struggled to speak to anyone
because of the stigma surrounding mental health.

Surviving celebrities can be approached to spread the word and destigmatize mental health, as hundreds of actors, influencers, athletes & other celebrities have openly accepted of having suicidal thoughts cause of their mental health.

- CASE STUDY -

Justin Bieber is just one of many celebrities who
was struggling with mental health. His condition went for a decade before he realized what it was. He admitted that he avoided the pain by getting numb under the influence of alcohol & other substances.
Mental illness is treatable and nothing to be ashamed of,  that is our message and we wish to spread it by
endorsements  and presenting celebrities own cases.

Music is very important
to me,
but nothing comes
before my family
& my health

The truth is, mental illness doesn’t care what you look like, what you do, how much money you make, or how happy you are before it hits you.
Mental illness, just like physical illness, does not discriminate,  but thankfully, it doesn’t have to incriminate anyone’s life either.
Mental illness is treatable and nothing to be ashamed of.
Thanks to many celebrities who have been open
with their own battles, we can all benefit from learning
more about mental illness and how to cope.

There were times where I was really,
really suicidal… I was just suffering,
right? So, I’m just like, man,
I would rather not feel this than feel this.

- HIS STORY -

I just would encourage people, like, ‘Hey, if you’re feeling lonely, talk about it. Say it out loud.’ There’s a freedom in that. I could have avoided a lot of pain.

2010's

Justin Bieber’s actions speaks louder, as he was arrested for
DUI back in 2014 in Miami, Florida.

In 2017, Bieber cancelled many of his Purpose World Tour dates, citing “unforeseen circumstances”, later telling fans “I want my mind heart and soul to be sustainable… I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep-rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart.”

2020

In January 2020, “Seasons” a 10-Part Documentry Series on Justin’s battle with mental health premiered. Where he discussed about his battles & being in a new headspace after the changes he’s gone through over the past few years - particularly getting married and how everything has impacted his creative process.

- SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS -

Therapists around the world, have taken to social media to create awareness around mental health during the ongoing pandemic that has caused what a psychologist
describes as a “worldwide shared trauma”. It is fascinating because, traditionally, most
therapists have not been active on social media, especially in their professional avatar.
